View, edit and create CSV files.

Typed columns, stacked filters, instant search and a real record form — for the file already on your desk. Save straight back to the same CSV.

The real window, running the app's own fixture. Switch sheets in the tab strip, filter, sort a column, or type to search.

Local by default

One file.
No copies.

CSVita opens the CSV where it lives and writes back to that same file. There is no import step, no workspace to migrate into, and no second version to keep in sync.

  • Open it where it lives — drag it in or pick it from disk.

  • Save rewrites the same CSV, in place.

  • No account, no upload, no cloud copy.

The grid

A spreadsheet, with a memory.

The grid keeps the speed of a spreadsheet and adds what it never had: named fields, real types, rules you can see, and a file that stays a file.

Every column knows what it is.

Text, money, dates, options, checkboxes, email, URLs and long text. The grid edits the type, not the string.

Rules that stack.

Build a WHERE bar from real conditions. Every rule carries a count; clear one and the file comes back exactly as it was.

Type once. See everything.

Search every cell as you type. Clear it and the rows return exactly as they were — no refresh, no re-import.

Everyday work

Small surface.
Serious grid.

The parts you use every day, built to stay out of the way.

Open the grid

Open in place

Point it at a CSV already on disk. Nothing is imported and nothing is copied — the file is the database, and Save writes back into the same file.

Million-row scrolling

The grid renders a bounded window of rows, not the whole file, so scrolling stays instant whether the CSV holds a hundred rows or a million.

DuckDB underneath

Sort, filter, search and group are pushed into an embedded DuckDB engine instead of being evaluated over what happens to be on screen.

Typed columns

Numbers, currency, dates, select pills, checkboxes, links and long text each render as themselves, from one column editor.

Filters that stack

A WHERE bar with real conditions, a count on every rule, and one Clear all that puts the file back.

Group without pivoting

Collapse by any field. Each group counts its rows and opens back into the same sheet.

Edit, then Save

Change a cell inline or open the whole row as a form built from the columns. Cell edits are staged until you save; row operations take effect straight away, and Save & add another keeps the rhythm.

Safe writes

Saves are atomic, a stale-file check runs before anything is written, and changes made outside the app are either adopted or raised as a conflict.

SQL panel

Run read-only queries against the open file, then export the result to a new CSV or apply it back with a preview first.

Local first

No account, no cloud, no telemetry. The app only ever touches the files you point it at, on the machine you are sitting in front of.

Keyboard first

Ctrl K for any command, / to search, N for a new record, ? for the whole map.

Long text, rendered

Markdown in a cell reads as prose, so a note stays readable in the grid. The raw text sits one tab away when you need to see exactly what the file holds.

9 column types 0 imports or uploads 1 file, edited in place Ctrl K for every command

A small tool that stays out of your way.

No account. No dashboard. No subscription. No import step. Just a Windows app for the spreadsheet you already saved.

  • × No account. Open the file and start editing.
  • × No dashboard. One window, one grid.
  • × No subscription. Install it from Microsoft Store.
  • × No import step. The CSV is already the database.

Ready when you are.

Install once. Work offline. Rename a column, add a type, write the row back — the file on disk is the same file you opened, and the status bar says so.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

If something about your file is unclear, these are the answers the app itself gives.

See it in the grid
Is my CSV uploaded anywhere?
No. CSVita opens the file on your computer and writes back to the same file. There is no account and no server copy — the status bar says All changes saved to disk when the grid and the file agree.
Do I need to import the file first?
No. Open calls your file picker directly — the file you pick is the answer, so there is nothing left to confirm. Its columns become the sheets you see, and Create writes a new CSV with a single ID column if you would rather start from nothing.
Can I keep opening it in Excel?
Yes. CSVita reads and writes plain CSV: the same comma-separated text, UTF-8 encoding and LF line endings the status bar reports. Edit in one app, open in the other — neither keeps a private copy.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Opening, editing and saving a file makes no network request. Every type, filter, sort and search runs on the file in front of you.
What happens when I close the app?
Nothing is written until you save. Ctrl S rewrites the CSV in place, and the status bar tells you the moment the grid and the file on disk agree again.

Your CSV is already a database.

Open the file you have. Keep the file you have.
